

Over time we have created a food system that serves very picky eaters.
We’re like the lion who eats the heart and liver and then leaves the rest of the zebra to rot.

In our food system we forgot to build in a ‘vulture function’.
Lots of good food is rotting while 1 in 10 people is starving.
How much food is wasted?

This is probably why our moms told us:
“Eat up your plate, children in Africa are starving.”
But even as a kid this didn’t feel logical
How would you bring my leftovers to hungry children in Africa?
In developing countries, most food is wasted on the farm and supply chain.

It never even reaches any plate.
But I’ve found out that the metaphor is true in a different way
